“True Beauty is the reflection of someone’s soul. I’ve found true beauty in those who care about more than just themselves.”
“True Beauty is loving yourself enough to share your love with others.”
“True Beauty is being true to yourself.”
“True Beauty happens when you stop doubting yourself and realize that being the real you is what matters the most.”
“True Beauty is what is behind one’s physical features. It’s the glow when they see someone they love or the laugh they let out when they hear a funny joke. Beauty is not all about a pretty face, clear skin, or a small waist – it’s small things that a person does that make who they are as a whole, beautiful.”
“True Beauty is Giving.
True Beauty is Loving Unconditionally.
True Beauty is Confidence.
True Beauty is Family.
True Beauty is Laughing Often.
True Beauty is Integrity.
True Beauty is Spontaneity.
True Beauty is Finding Your Passion.
True Beauty is Living Authentically.”
“It’s not what the world sees but rather what it feels when you give a smile that is filled with love and gratitude. You can’t change your face or your ethnicity or your social status. I have learned to accept what I was given and rather than trying to change what’s around me, I wake up every day giving thanks to God and work on truly loving those around me. I have decided that I am beautiful and that is all that matters.”
"True Beauty comes from within. It’s shining a beautiful light from within your soul out into the world and recognizing that same beautiful light within others. Namaste.”
“I think that True Beauty is portrayed by how you treat others rather than your appearance.”
Project Beauty is a national campaign started by High School Senior Photographer, Thomas Nguyen with a goal of redefining what true beauty is and how it is portrayed in the media. Teens are not only seeing celebrities and models with perfect lives, but now their classmates and friends. They feel less than, unpopular, left out and ugly. It’s truly a perfect storm of self-doubt.
With Project Beauty, I wanted to help spread the work of Thomas and 250 other photographers around the country to redefine the way beauty is depicted in social media. Our photographs were natural, but raw and empowering. There was no make up, no retouching and no fancy styling. Each participant was voluntarily filmed and described what true beauty meant to them.
When I saw the positive impact this campaign had on these girls and how it provided them with a platform to speak up, I challenged several of my friends to participate. To my surprise, it was more difficult to convince the mature ladies to get in front of the camera without make up or styling.
The result of this labor of love was something beautiful that touched many lives and most importantly, started a conversation among our teens and their parents. Please watch our very special video that is full of honesty, tears and True Beauty.
“True Beauty is having enough confidence in yourself to help others feel confident about themselves too.”
“Beauty is the endless effort to emit love and kindness and positivity.”
True Beauty means how to carry yourself. I thing being down to earth and humble shows a lot of True Beauty.”
“Beauty is something you can find everywhere if you are open to seeing it. The experience of True Beauty is not necessarily something you see with your eyes, but something you feel. I believe that it all starts with compassion.”
“She was beautiful not for being perfect, but for being imperfect. She was beautiful for having the persistence to begin her introspective journey. It was on this journey that her beauty grew. It is where she realized that True Beauty was found in being unashamedly herself. She was beautiful for always seeing the beauty in others and making them feel beautiful. She re-defined beautiful as confident, fearless and bold. She is beautiful because she believes in herself so much that she thins she can change the world.”
“True Beauty is the confidence in knowing your self worth and recognizing the same in others.”
True Beauty is an understanding of ones self emotionally and physically. A self appreciation and a self love. The point where you are equally as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside. You have so much love that you refuse not to share it.”
Growing up I was always bigger and stronger tan all the other girls in my grade. I felt like an outsider because of my bigger stature at a young age. I began to put a lot of makeup on my face and I started to fix my hair in a certain way to try and look like all the other girls. However, because of my tall figure, I still felt like an outcast. It wasn’t until I received my first softball Division I scholarship that I began to love my body. My tall frame allowed me to excel in the sport that I love so much. Throughout my self-love process, I began to see that True Beauty means to love yourself because of your differences.”
True Beauty means loving yourself no matter your height, weight, gender or race.”
Some say that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, but to me True Beauty comes from within. It is having confidence in yourself. Confidence that you are and who you are going to be. I have noticed that in High School, the girls who are the most beautiful are the ones that wear what they want, speak to who they want to and laugh at what they want with confidence. This beauty that comes with confidence does not solely apply to the 'most popular'. True Beauty comes from how someone carries themselves, not from the beholder.
