If I had to run a campaign for Ambassador James it would be titled something like, "The Most Interesting Young Man in the World .... Goes to Westlake High School". Since the first time I met him last year, I have had such interesting conversations with him each time we are together. At our Consultation, we visited for 2 hours about things that had nothing to do with his Senior Session. I was mesmerized by his vast knowledge of travel, cooking, sports and academia. James is the quintessential Renaissance Man and it's immensely refreshing. I always learn something new when I am around James. In particular, how incompetent I seem to be. For instance, I do not dry out my own meat to take on a week long camping trip, nor would I even know how to do this. But when James explained it all to me, I wanted to run out and buy all the gear to have that kind of adventure! I mean, I wanted to dry out meat too!
Let's talk a minute about how excited I was when James showed up in a full-on traditional Scottish kilt for his Senior Session! I think I even said out loud, "Oh no you didn't!" It wasn't just the tartan kilt, but he had all the proper accessories of a pouch, a knife hanging from the belt and a fancy horn. I have been known to jump up and down with excitement from time to time on location, but you couldn't have slapped the smile off my face when he was donning this outfit. THEN we followed it up taking images in his rugby uniform on his high school field. Not many people could rock the kilt AND the rugby uniform in the same session as confidently as James did!
James exudes confidence without arrogance and intelligence without lacking insight. He is refined, kind and funny. I'm SO happy that he is one of my 2018 Ambassadors this year. He has added so much to my year and our program and I'm beyond thrilled that I was able to meet him and his beautiful family. I'm looking forward to seeing all the amazing opportunities his future holds. We love you, James!
